Saar. 24. Travels. Writes. Does that make her a travel-writer? Not just yet. Loves to bring all her beloved ones, earthly and heavenly creatures, along on her trip. Will try to do so by dropping notes, posting pictures, videos, writing stories. A.k.a.: sharing her experiences. Don't feel like reading from a screen? Just wait for the book to get published! (*Wishful thinking*)

Inspiration [needed] Sunday

Well, hello there! May I brighten up your day? Thank you so much, the pleasure is all mine (I needed some of that as well!). Start by playing some brilliant songs of Miss Brun, the perfect company for an Inspiration-bomb that is about to exp-lo-oode! (Take your time, the next hour or so *KUCH* is yours)

Focus, and find simplicity in this Age of Distraction

Zenhabits’ Leo Babauta book “Focus” might just be what your busy head has been craving for. It’s about finding the focus you need to create, to work on what’s important, to reflect, to find peace. Leo offers a free and premium version of the book, have a look at the Table of Contents to see if it is for you.

What happens if your once-in-a-lifetime experience is over?

You don’t hear people saying, ‘This morning, I rode to work on a once-in-a-lifetime train! And I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience of some guy yelling at me for standing on his shoe!’ No, you don’t hear people talking that way and if you did, I’m sure you’d punch them in the mouth. But everything, I repeat, everything is once-in-a-lifetime.

Why I don’t like ten year plans

So I grew up to be exactly what I wanted to be: a drifter.

The trouble with being a drifter:

Drifters are not well-regarded by The Man. The Man likes to slot everyone into neat categories. If you can’t be easily labeled, you’re not to be trusted. If you drift from place to place, you must be lazy and noncompliant, which means you’re unpredictable and rebellious, which makes you dangerous, which means you’ll almost definitely rob a bank on a whim wearing nothing but an ex-president face mask and a pair of holey wonders.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with drifting. For me, having a 10 year plan would be a plot spoiler.

Comprehending copious collars.

- A quick guide to the major styles you’ll find. ( Don’t you just love the image?)

The collar is undergoing something of a power shift these days. Gone are the days when the medium-spread ruled the shirt world. Now you’re likely to run into any number of collars. And yes, you can stick with the medium-spread, but you should consider mixing it up a bit. It’ll do you some good.

The Girl Effect

The Girl Effect is a movement. It’s about the unique and indisputable potential of adolescent girls to end poverty for themselves and the world. It was created by people at the Nike Foundation, the NoVo Foundation, the United Nations Foundation and the Coalition for Adolescent Girls, but it’s about you using your voice, your talents, and your community to help girls help themselves—and, as a result, everybody else. It’s about giving you the tools and the network you need to spread the word about what girls can do and, with a little elbow grease, change the world. Join the conversation and let the world know what the Girl Effect is capable of. Talk it up. Spread the word.

Your feelings are not up for debate

But your emotions aren’t facts - you can’t debate or ague them. You feel how you feel. Period. And no matter what you feel, that’s 100% okay.

Our emotions help fuel hundreds of decisions, ranging from what we eat for breakfast to who we marry.  They’re important and nothing to be ashamed of, even if (especially if) you’re coping with a chronic issue like depression.

Like most communication fixes, stopping invalidation requires both sides to make some shifts. For the record – this shit is hard!

Much sunny sparkling love for:

Every word Genesis writes about her wonderful relationship with Lemon Man. (And - finally - being/feeling able to relate to that)

Quotes

What ever we’re attracted to is often all the guidance we need.

Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, in fact, just surrounded by assholes. - W.Gibson

What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul. - Yiddish Proverb

The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny. - Albert Ellis

And a lovely poem to call it a (Sunny-)day:

Solitude

You can learn to keep yourself company,
but only by keeping yourself company —

Do you ask “how are you?” and listen
like a deer deciphering a rustling in the leaves?

Do you say “take a walk with me, and let me show you the woods?”

Do you sing yourself a song?

Now you are the one: the one to care for all the whispers inside
the one to listen to all the children,
to take them to see beautiful places and new sights.

That’s you: the woman leading the field trip,
the woman making hot chocolate for all of them,
the woman saying, “now, now, that’s enough.”

If you feel like an incomplete circle, or a wilted form
go home to silence and listen to yourself.

Give your words a hearing.
Shine each pebble and dagger to the light.
Meet each with lilac compassion.

Then feel: as your own sweet song
overtakes your life and blazes
so loud you need an earth
this listening to hold it.

Contentment springs up,
again and again, from the well
where you least expected to discover it.

-Tara Sophia Mohr
