Saar. 24. Travels. Writes. Does that make her a travel-writer? Not just yet. Loves to bring all her beloved ones, earthly and heavenly creatures, along on her trip. Will try to do so by dropping notes, posting pictures, videos, writing stories. A.k.a.: sharing her experiences. Don't feel like reading from a screen? Just wait for the book to get published! (*Wishful thinking*)

Inspiration: expat-bloggers

Lately I’ve been reading a lot of ‘expat-blogs’. Of people that have moved to Canada, of people that have come to the Netherlands, of fellow Bangkokians

It is great to read about what other people advice and (have) struggle(d) with when they went to Canada. Presuming it is ‘Western’, you would not expect people would come across a lot of cultural differences. I’d better not presume, but get myself educated. A couple of blogs I find amusing/helpful:

Now that I have been away from The Netherlands for over a year, I sometimes forget what is ‘typical’ Dutch. What movies would I recommend to foreigners, what customs and traditions are Hollands? (Don’t worry, it’s not like everything has been completely blocked out of my mind.. but I just adjust myself to the places I travel to in a way that I don’t focus on differences that much anymore). Luckily, there are some great websites of Nieuwe Nederlanders that make me proud of my country (allll those stories about Sinterklaas, wow!). As I started reading, I could not stop anymore. Holland sounds like an intriguing country, maybe I should go back some day? (haha)

CloggieCentral (I love it, your fair treat of Sinterklaasjournaal, Roze koeken, Taksi and christmas stamps)

Like I said before, I grow so used to my surroundings that I sometimes forget how things could surprise me when I first arrived in Thailand. That is why I love reading blogs of fellow travelers, to relive those moments through their stories.

A great resource for newcomers (that had me laughing out loud so so often) is Bangkokpodcast
