Saar. 24. Travels. Writes. Does that make her a travel-writer? Not just yet. Loves to bring all her beloved ones, earthly and heavenly creatures, along on her trip. Will try to do so by dropping notes, posting pictures, videos, writing stories. A.k.a.: sharing her experiences. Don't feel like reading from a screen? Just wait for the book to get published! Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Another Christmas ‘at home’, in Bangkok. Without any snow, no Christmas tree in the living room (what living room? ;) ) - the 3 Christmas tree’s at the reception downstairs make up for this, I guess -, no fireplace to keep me warm (the sun will do), no pressies and seasonal specialties to be shared with friends and family.
I’m not complaining though, I love being in Bangkok and the department stores do a hell of a job to make me aware the holidays are getting closer… Still, this is my third Christmas abroad (New Zealand included) and well..maybe a cozy evening together would not be all that bad. (I will be celebrating here with some fellow ‘expats’ though, which will be fun: Secret Santa to the rescue!)
Even though I will be missing out on all lovely things Christmas, I will at least dream away for a bit and create a wish-list of things that would be so so nice to find under a Christmas tree. A hypothetical one, that is :) (If Santa does feel like surprising me with gifts, I hope he knows where to find me - in two months or so - I won’t be able to drag goodies across the ocean. Once my backpack is stuffed with winter clothing and the like, I’m pretty much at the amount of luggage I’m
On my list:
I got to sit in at a rehearsal of the Dutch production, and was very sad I had to miss out going to the play because I would be abroad when they’d be performing it.
But hey, life is about second chances… No lovely tunes of Orkater and no breath-taking moments with Gijs Scholten van Aschat, but hey… Kevin Spacey?!
“Mr. Spacey gives fierce and flashy physical life to every twist of a power-mad man’s corkscrew mind.” —The New York Times
Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey owns the stage as Shakespeare’s outrageous villain Richard III. At the climax of the Wars of the Roses, Richard watches his brother ascend the throne of England and confides in us—with all the profound bitterness of an outcast born with a hunchback and malformed leg—his intention to seize the crown. Navigating an imposing assemblage of some of Shakespeare’s greatest female characters, Richard—played brilliantly by the mercurial and mordantly funny Spacey—lusts for power, assuring his own bloody rise and fall.
Academy Award winner Sam Mendes directs the transatlantic cast in the final production of The Bridge Project, a three-year partnership uniting BAM, The Old Vic, and Neal Street.

Ok, this was fun. (But hell: materialism to the max! I might be settling down for a bit, but don’t want to create piles of stuff around me wherever I live for a bit.
Time to get my bum to a library as soon as I can…that much is clear.) Enough dreaming for me! Do dream along and please share your wishes in the comments! Did you ever celebrate holidays without your friends and family, whether abroad or in your own country? I have been ‘skipping’ birthdays and holidays for years…
